The animal shelter plays an important role in the work of an animal welfare organization.
It provides a temporary home for animals that cannot stay with their owners for various reasons.
Here they are cared for, looked after and placed until they find a permanent home.
The role of the shelter is to ensure that each animal receives species-appropriate conditions, care and love until it can be placed in a permanent and responsible environment.
If something happens to their owner and nothing is as it was, what happens to the four-legged friends?
If no one in the family can take them in, they get a place with lots of love and cuddles at our shelter.
Sometimes life plays out differently than you think.
Sometimes you are forced to make difficult decisions and part with your pet.
If this is exactly how you feel right now, then get in touch.
We will give your pet a place and find it a home where it will feel completely at home.
The prices we charge cover a small part of the costs we incur every day for the care and placement of the animals.
The prices are based on experience with regard to placement times, personnel costs, medication, food and so on.

General info
Many pets, especially dogs, should be chipped or tattooed and registered.
The chip can be read by a vet or the police.
We can also read the data, but are not allowed to pass it on for data protection reasons.
However, we can arrange for the owners to be informed via the police.
If there is no chip, you can also write out the animal found here:
STMZ Swiss Animal Reporting Center
Obligation to report
Important: Anyone who finds a pet is legally obliged to report this to a cantonal office.
There is an exception if the animal is chipped and can be returned within a short period of time.
If you don’t know where to report the animal, send us an e-mail with all the information about the animal, where it was found and your contact details.
We will take care of the report for you.
Cats
Please never simply take a found cat with you.
First always ask in the neighborhood (at the place where the cat was found) if anyone knows or misses the cat.
Good condition:
If the cat appears to be fine and is not wearing a collar, you can put a safety collar on the cat (which comes off automatically if it gets caught) and attach an information capsule (available from Meiko, Qualipet or your local pet food store).
For example, with your cell phone number and the question: “Whose cat is this?” If no one answers and your suspicion persists, proceed as described above and have the cat checked for a chip.
Poor condition:
If the cat is in a worrying state of health (emaciated, shaggy coat or festering eyes etc.), please take it to the vet and tell him about the situation.
If your missing animal is chipped, always report it to the police first.
Many animal sightings are first reported to the police by the public.
Dogs
If you find your dog missing, contact AMICUS immediately after reporting it to the police.
Make sure that the contact details are still correct so that you can be contacted if your pet is found.
Cats
Contact ANIS immediately after the police report and make sure that the contact details are still correct.
